Responsive practices in the art room help guide behavior and instruction. Using my experience as a positive behavior facilitator for my school and the book "Responsive Classroom for Music, PE, and Art and other special areas" as a resource. We will discuss how to: open/close each class in a positive way; Set students up for success by modeling and practicing skills and routines; Use positive teacher language; Engage students more deeply; Respond to misbehavior to get students back to learning.

Resiliency is necessary for artistic learning and making! Current research will be shared providing practical ways student resiliency can be built through changes to art curriculum and instructional practice. Tools will be shared to equip teachers to better advocate for their students and programs.
